200 views. 3 enquiries. That is a 1.5% conversion rate, and if you have been checking your Alibaba or IndiaMART dashboard wondering what you are doing wrong, here is the first thing to understand. You are probably not doing anything wrong. This is how the model performs by default.

    Why the gap exists

Most listings in your category look the same. On Alibaba especially, it is common for multiple suppliers to use nearly identical product images and near-identical descriptions for the same category of goods. When a buyer scrolls past ten listings that all look the same, most of those 200 views are just that, a scroll, not real evaluation. Nothing in the listing gave the buyer a reason to stop and act.

A large share of views are not buyers at all. Some of that traffic is competitors checking pricing. Some is algorithm-driven exposure from keyword matches that are only loosely relevant. Some is buyers early in research mode, months away from actually placing an order. 200 views rarely means 200 people evaluating your factory specifically.

Buyers cannot verify manufacturing quality from a listing. A photo and a spec sheet cannot answer the questions that actually decide a bulk order, real production capacity, consistency across batches, whether the factory has fulfilled international orders before. Without that reassurance, a buyer moves on to the next listing rather than taking the risk of enquiring.

The enquiries you do get are often being compared against several others. When a buyer submits an RFQ or BuyLead on a directory, that same request is frequently routed to multiple suppliers at once, not just you. Your 3 enquiries may each be sitting alongside 2 to 4 other suppliers' quotes, and most manufacturers who respond to a shared enquiry will not be the one who wins it.

None of this means your product is the problem. It means the model was built for volume of listings, not for protecting any individual manufacturer's chance of actually closing an order.

What actually improves this, and what does not

There are tactics that can nudge a directory listing's conversion rate up, sharper product titles, better photography, faster response times, third-party certification badges. These help, industry data suggests optimised listings can lift qualified enquiry rates meaningfully. But they are working within a structure that was never designed to give you an exclusive shot at any single buyer. You can improve your odds inside a shared-enquiry, look-alike-listing system. You cannot remove the structure itself.

    What to do instead

The alternative is not a better listing. It is a different model entirely, a trading platform rather than a directory.

On a trading platform like Ant Mascot, the difference starts before an enquiry ever reaches you. Buyers are verified before their requirement is shared, so you are not fielding views from browsers, competitors, or unqualified traffic. When your product is matched to a buyer's need, the order is not simultaneously shared with three or four other manufacturers hoping to win it on price. It is yours.

The platform also does not stop at introduction. Quality checks, logistics, customs, documentation, and payment are managed end to end, which is part of why a buyer is willing to commit without needing to independently verify your factory the way they would on an open directory. That trust layer is what turns an enquiry into an order, not a better product photo.

If your current listing is generating views without enquiries, or enquiries without orders, the fix is not another round of optimisation. It is asking whether you are on a platform designed to convert attention into orders for you specifically, or one designed to generate volume for the platform.
